Conch
t is believed that worshiping the “Maha Conch” (Great Conch) and the “Conch” helps dispel misfortune and absorb negativity from the devotee. They are considered sacred objects with inherent supernatural power that no force can nullify, except the law of karma itself.
Those who worship the Maha Conch and Conch do so for auspicious blessings. It is believed that such worship brings completeness in happiness, wealth, and success to the possessor. The sacred power of the auspicious conch is said to bestow continuous prosperity, abundance of wealth, loyal followers, good fortune, and accomplishment in all endeavors. It is also believed to protect against misfortune, spirits, demons, black magic, and illnesses. The conch makes the devotee beloved, admired, and supported by others.
The water flowing from the mouth of the conch is regarded as holy, akin to the waters of the sacred Ganges River. When poured upon a person or place, that person or place is believed to be purified and freed from all defilements. The sound emanating from the conch, wherever it reaches, makes that place auspicious.
The Consecration Ceremony of the Conch, or the establishment of the “Conch,” is akin to enhancing its inherent supernatural power. Though the conch naturally possesses sacred energy, it is believed that bringing it into such a ceremony increases its auspiciousness.
Moreover, for those who have newly begun worshiping the conch, participating in the consecration ritual serves as a formal introduction to one’s guardian deities, informing them of the conch’s protective presence. It also purifies the conch itself, cleansing the misfortunes it has absorbed on behalf of its worshiper, restoring it to sacred purity once more.
